Isle Royale has 36 different camp sites throughout the island, with some on small outlying islands. All camp sites have some access to water, outhouses, and sites for tents. Some of the camp sites offer sturdy shelters, great for beating the weather if needed. Some of the camp sites have docks and are accessible via Lake Superior by boat. We’ll give you a review of the various camp sites with some photos to help you plan. Some of the camp sites are beautiful and cannot be missed, some are worth skipping or hiking just another mile to get to a better site.
Permits are required for all camping at Isle Royale! Camp sites are first come, first serve, and often get busy in the high season. You can get more information here from the National Park about permits.
